Why Parents Choose This Camp

More than chess.
Skills for life.

Parents tell us their kids come home thinking differently. More patient, more confident, and proud of something they genuinely earned.

Critical Thinking

Chess trains the habit of thinking several moves ahead and weighing consequences. Skills that translate directly to math, writing, and academic performance.

Sustained Focus

Three hours of structured play and instruction builds the ability to concentrate deeply. A rare, valuable skill in today's world of constant distraction.

Earned Confidence

Every win is built on genuine skill and effort. Kids leave with a quiet, authentic confidence that no participation trophy could ever produce.

Small Group Instruction

We keep class sizes intentionally small so every student gets personalized coaching, game reviews, and the attention needed to genuinely improve.

All Skill Levels Welcome

Complete beginners and intermediate players both thrive here. We meet every student where they are and challenge them to grow at their own pace.

Fun and Competitive

A friendly tournament closes every session. Kids discover the joy of healthy competition and leave Friday knowing exactly how much they have grown.

Two sessions.
One summer.

Pick the week that works for your family, or sign up for both and watch the progress compound.

What Students Will Do

Five days.
Real progress.

Every session follows a carefully sequenced curriculum. Students arrive Monday as learners and leave Friday with a completely different game.

Secure a Spot
1
Introduction & Foundations
Piece movement, board geography, and the principles of controlling the center from move one.
2
Tactics & Pattern Recognition
Forks, pins, skewers, and discovered attacks. Pattern recognition is the fastest path to a stronger game.
3
Checkmate Motifs
Back rank mates, smothered mates, two-rook roller, and the finishing patterns every competitive player must know.
4
Endgame Motifs
King-and-pawn endings, rook endgames, and how to convert a winning position. The most neglected skill at every level.
Final Tournament & Showcase
A friendly round-robin on Friday. Every student competes, improves, and leaves proud of what they built in five days.

What parents are saying

4.8 from 28+ reviews

"My son came home on Friday talking about chess nonstop. He never had that kind of focus before. By day three he was beating me, and I used to play in college. Worth every penny."

S
Sarah M.
Parent of 7th grader · Session 1

"We were nervous because our daughter had zero chess experience. Within two days she was hooked. The instructors were patient and clearly passionate. She is already asking to come back."

J
Jennifer K.
Parent of 5th grader · Session 2

"The structure is impressive. It is not just open play for three hours. There are real lessons, puzzles, game reviews. My son learned more in five days than I expected in five weeks."

R
Robert T.
Parent of 8th grader · Session 1

"I loved that it is right here in Greenwich and the group is small. My daughter got real individual time with the coach. She placed second in the Friday tournament and was absolutely beaming."

A
Amanda L.
Parent of 6th grader · Session 2

"Both my kids did it, one beginner and one intermediate. Both had a great time, and both improved measurably. The camp handles mixed skill levels very thoughtfully."

D
David W.
Parent of 5th & 7th graders

"The confidence boost was real and immediate. Chess taught my son that losing is part of learning. That lesson has carried over into everything else he does at school and at home."
